Construction Accident Injures Three Workers

On Friday, September 20, 2013, a construction accident in a church being expanded in northern Minnesota left three workers injured.  The workers were working inside the church when over a dozen roof trusses collapsed, after which a steel beam from the roof also collapsed on top of the wreckage.

Three workers were trapped beneath the fallen beams, and were eventually freed by emergency crews.  They were taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center and are now in stable condition.  The workers were employed by Nor-Son, Inc.

Construction work is very risky, exposing workers to bodily harm everyday.  Workers never know when the structures that they are working on will collapse, causing heavy beams and other pieces to fall directly on top of them.  The injuries that can result from such accidents are severe, from amputations to concussions.  Workers may be left unable to work and support their families, facing mounting bills and unexpected medical expenses.
